The Cure - Part of the Stolen Dreams Short Film Competition

UCLA and AARP has named Anthony Onah's The Cure as the winner of the Stolen Dreams Short Film Competition.

The Cure, written and directed by Anthony Onah, and produced by Miqi Huang and May Lugemwa, focuses on a single mother whose young son is injured in an accident while she is at work, pulling both mother and son into a medical insurance nightmare.

The Stolen Dreams Competition featured eight short films made by graduate students at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. These young filmmakers were challenged to make short films about health care and financial security, our nation’s top domestic priorities. The competition was co-sponsored by Divided We Fail and the UCLA.

Award-winning writer/director/producers Steven Bochco, Curtis Hanson and Reggie Hudlin, along with AARP’s executive vice president and chief brand officer Emilio Pardo served as judges. The winning film will also be used as part of AARP’s hard-hitting Divided We Fail initiative.

The Cure and all of the Stolen Dreams short Films can be found at stolendreams.com. The competition may be over, but these issues are still very real.
